If you have just a day in hand to spend in Chicago, you need to buckle up to explore the city. The itinerary given below will guide you on how to spend a resourceful and splendid 24 hours in the City of Chicago.

Breakfast at 8:00am

Kick of your day with some food in some of the most popular breakfast places in Chicago. Pittsfield Cafe at Washington and Wabash is a very good option. The restaurant opens at 6am (Monday-Saturday). It is closed on Sundays. Here you can enjoy a hearty dinner style breakfast.

Visit the Chicago Cultural Center at 9:00am

The Cultural Center is just located few minutes away from the Pittsfield Cafe, at Washington and Michigan.  The Cultural Center is opens at 9am in most days but in Sundays and holidays it opens from 10 am. Entry is free here. This free museum with traveling exhibits on different levels. This is a great place to explore.

Loop and Millennium Park tour at 11:00am

It is always an excellent idea to take a walking tour to know the city. Take a guide who will take you on a journey through the Chicago’s downtown Loop district which starts near State and Lake.  But before booking your tour check the calendar as the loop tour runs several times per week. Hungry?? Time for Lunch at 1:00pm

Although there are several good restaurants in Chicago, but we recommend you to head to the Al’s Beef at 234 Wabash Ave. The hot dogs and sandwiches here are awesome. The serve Chicago style hotdogs and Italian beef sandwiches.

Visit the Art Institute at 3:00pm

After you have satisfied your hunger it’s time to head towards the Art Institute. The Art institute is located in the Millennium Park at Michigan and Adams. The Art Institute boasts in having the second largest collection of impressionistic art.

Water Tower at 5:00pm

Now move towards north to see one of the oldest buildings in Chicago to have survived the Great Fire of 1871.it is the Water Tower and Pumping Station located at the Michigan and Chicago Streets. The tower daily opens from 10-6:30pm (except Holidays) and the entry is free.

Shopping at Magnificent Mile at 7:00pm

It you are shopaholic, then Magnificent Mile or the Mag Mile is the best choice. The entire area is full of shopping centers and beautiful hotels. You will find here some of the best brands like the Gucci, Coach, Apple, H & M and Burberry. Click here to know more about Shopping in Chicago.

Dinner at 9:00pm

By now you must be hungry. If you are in Chicago you must definitely try the famous Chicago-style deep dish pizza.  Pizzeria Uno’s at Wabash and Ohio and Gino’s East at Michigan and Superior are well known for their deep dish pizza.  Satisfy your hunger by enjoying these yummy pizzas.

Enjoy best views of the city from Hancock Building and Signature Lounge at 10:00pm

If you want to experience a bird’s eye view of Chicago, then head towards the Hancock Building at Michigan and Chestnut. It is the 4th tallest building in Chicago. Get the ticket and visit Observation Deck, you will get a mind-blowing view of the city and also you can click photos. If you want to spend your money on a cocktail instead of paying the admission fees, ride the elevator up to the 96th floor of the building to the Signature Lounge. Enjoy the stunning view of the city with some really tasty food and drinks.

Enjoy Chicago Nights at 12:00am

Chicago has plenty of choices for the night owls.  You can enjoy a drink at the Blues Club or you can visit the Improv Theatre. Both these places are located only a few train stops away or also you can take a cab to visit the places. Either blues or Improv, it is a perfect way to end your visit to the city.
